Private Education

Private Education is when an outstanding teacher/mentor works with one student, or a small group of students, over multiple years to shape both their educational future and their personal growth. The teacher/mentor oversees all of the education of the student, often assisted by a variety of tutors and or assistants. Private education has a long history of being used by selective families who invest in the total development of their child(ren).

Private tutors offer families far more than a public or private school can provide including: individualized curriculum, customized learning schedules, non-traditional calendars, regular field trips, summer learning, ability for the tutor to travel with the family, extended days, development of the entire person, and more.

College Consulting and Guidance

What college to choose? What major to pursue? What scores are needed to get in? Can I fix my GPA? What educational options are available? How to write a great essay? What about extracurricular activities? What about athletes and performers? What about accommodations?

There are so many questions and it can be overwhelming for students and their families. We work with you to walk through your questions and give your student the best opportunity to excel.

Multiyear planning packages are available. Your student gains the support and assistance of our team for 2-5+ years. We include hundreds of hours of academic support each year along with career interest inventories, resume-building, trips to colleges of interest, consultations with parents, interview preparation, test prep, and more.

Tutoring for K-12 and College Students

Every student needs some support at times. Many students need ongoing support to help them achieve goals and pursue their dreams. We understand the needs of all kinds of students and offer professional tutoring and academic support to help them excel. We work with all kinds of students: those with accommodations, athletes, gifted students, performers, non-traditional students, those who travel frequently, and more.

IEP/504 Accommodations and Tough School Choices

Many students struggle in school and need accommodations to help them be more successful. Accommodations are about leveling the playing field so that more students can perform at a higher level. We help you think through the possible accommodations, pursue the right testing, prepare the appropriate paperwork, and have successful meetings with your student’s educational institution (K-12 through college).

Private Tutor Education

  • Individual attention for 1-12 students. An exclusive education for your student(s) alone or for a small group.
  • Dedicated teacher/tutor/mentor oversees the entire educational process.
  • Custom-designed schedule to fit the needs of the students and families.
  • Private tutor can be available for travel or can fit schooling around the family travel schedule.
The DNA Academy is here to provide support for students, many of whom need some form of a non-traditional approach to education. Most classes and support are available online. There is generally no set tuition. Instead, the investment is based on the amount of time the student needs from DNA Academy staff (tutoring, generating transcripts, course selection assistance, etc.).
The standard rate is $75 per hour. All of our contractors are highly qualified and used to working with students with unique learning situations.
Private tutors are highly valued by affluent families who wish to invest in the educational and personal development of their child(ren). The current typical investment is $200,000-$300,000 per year ($150,000-$200,000 for the tutor plus the agency fee and other expenses). This provides for one tutor to work with the child(ren). The tutor is provided with 7-9 weeks of vacation per year, housing, utilities, and a vehicle. Families also pay for all travel-related expenses for traveling with the family, entrance fees for going places with the child(ren), and often also provide benefits such as 1-3 meals per day, paid round-trip travel for the tutor to visit their home 1-2x/year, participation in lessons/activities with the child(ren), and more. The investment is significant but so is the impact of great educators on the life of the child(ren). Families have high expectations of the teacher and anticipate that both teaching and mentoring will take place. DNA Coaching offers several options to provide a private tutor education for your student(s).
  • We provide the teacher/tutor/mentor to work with just your student(s)
  • We provide an enhanced educational experience for a small group of students. The school would be an experiential, project-based, hands-on, immersive experience with regular exposure to international issues and participation in service learning. The school would only take 10-12 students. Classes could be multiage/multigrade (such as 4th/5th or 3rd-5th). There will be a full-time certified teacher and an aide in each class. Service projects and field trips would occur regularly.
  • We provide the enhanced experience above but with some significant additions: a well-credentialed adult teacher/mentor in addition to the teacher and aides, tutors in music and foreign language, instruments for students, transportation for outings, entrance fees to many museums, parks, and educational centers, and summer fun and learning experiences.
We also address social justice issues in several ways. A private education can include a donation to a Title 1 (lower income) public school, providing space for 1-2 scholarship students to learn with your students, and or providing a learning pod for a group of students on scholarship.
If anyone is promising that your student will be admitted to a particular educational institution, you should likely find a new college consultant. There are some situations in which high school graduates are virtually guaranteed admission to community colleges (state colleges, in Florida) but otherwise there are no guarantees. A good college consultant should help your student find schools that are a good fit for them and into which they are likely to be admitted. Working with a college consultant over a period of time can increase the number of schools to which your student may be able to gain admission.
Yes. We provide test prep services for all of those tests as well as the PERT and the TABE. We can help create a study schedule which works for your student and allows them to do as much as possible on their own. We are happy to meet with students as much as necessary to see a significant increase in their score. We do not guarantee an increase of a certain number of points as that is not realistic for all students.
Good college admissions consultants often charge $200-$300+ per hour. We want to help as many students and families as possible so we offer packages which provide a significant discount. You can pay hourly or purchase blocks of time at a discount. We also offer an all-inclusive college consulting package for working with your student over a period of 2-5 years. Packages include hundreds of hours of test prep, resume consultation, essay crafting, career inventories, campus visits, and more.
